Reformed Baptist South Surrey Bible Study and Church Plant
Surrey Bible Study
As an outreach of Free Grace Baptist Church (FGBC) in Chilliwack, BC it is the desire of the Church to see another Reformed Baptist (RB) witness commence in the BC Lower Mainland, west of the Fraser Valley. To that end, on Tuesday 13th September 2016 at 7PM, the first Surrey Reformed Baptist Bible Study took place in a private home in South Surrey, led by Pastor Jim Butler. As was broadcast to various personal contacts at the time, “this Bible study represents the first step in an initiative to plant a Reformed Baptist church in this general area.”
The Surrey RB Bible Study meets every second Tuesday in a private home with a typical gathering presently of about 15-19 people. Under the direct leadership of the Pastors and Deacons of Free Grace Baptist Church in Chilliwack, the Bible Study is not a discussion time of open-ended and unplanned topics, but a time of prayer and specific teaching in God’s Word, followed by a time of Q & A. Currently, the Pastors and a FGBC member take turns leading the Bible Study. Of the numerous studies that have taken place, it has been a time of rich blessing, fellowship and teaching in God’s Word.
A public venue for the Bible Study is currently being sought. Our prayer is that this work will continue to expand to include Sunday services by the early part of 2018 in the will of the Lord.

Surrey Church Plant
Free Grace Baptist Church in Chilliwack (FGBC) is currently seeking the Lord’s guidance in establishing a Reformed Baptist daughter church.
The prayer is that this new work would provide access to a Reformed Baptist church nearer to the surrounding areas of Langley, Surrey/Delta, Richmond, Greater Vancouver and, just south of the border in Washington State, to areas like Blaine, Lynden and Bellingham. South Surrey has been chosen as the location for this initiative due to its proximity to many such communities within reasonable driving distance. It has long been on the hearts of those who attend FGBC to see such a work established!
As you’ll read above, the commencement of a FGBC Church Plant has already started by way of regular Bible Studies in a private home, where meetings are taking place every second Tuesday in South Surrey (this commenced in September 2016). In spring 2017, it was decided that it was time to move the Bible Study to a public location, and considerable work and planning has been conducted to that end already. The idea is that the Surrey Bible Study will then move toward the commencement of public Sunday services in early 2018.
