We Preach

The centrality of our worship is the preaching of the Word God, in which we engage in exposition and application of the truth. With that stated, we likewise believe that such preaching should reflect the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:23-24: “we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God”.

We Teach

We believe that doctrine is vitally important, and that it is the foundation for proper and joyful praise to our Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Paul urged the Philippians to strive for the faith of the gospel, and Jude exhorted his needful audience to earnestly contend for the faith. To that end, and to give God the praise that is due His name, we engage in teaching our congregation the whole counsel of God from the Holy Scriptures.

We Broadcast

For those unable to join us – whether you are far away, unwell, or otherwise hindered – we provide a live video broadcast of our AM and PM Lord’s Day worship services, as well as audio recordings of our studies in the confession of faith, and our Wednesday night Bible Study. Additionally, almost all sermons & teaching sessions are recorded and can be viewed or downloaded within 24 hours of their recording.

We are located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada, just 60 miles east of Vancouver, 23 miles east of Abbotsford, and 21 miles north-east of the Washington, US border. Come join us for worship at 11:00am and 5:00pm on Sundays. Additionally, you can join us prior to worship on Sundays at 9:30am, for prayer meeting or the study in our confession, and on Wednesdays at 7:30pm for our weekly Bible Study.

About Us

By God’s grace, the Free Grace Baptist Church of Chilliwack, B.C. formally constituted in January 1998.

At Free Grace Baptist Church we are committed to preaching the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 1:15: “this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into this world sinners to save”. This certain truth was also in the fore of Paul’s mind when he wrote to the Corinthian church: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3-4), and the scriptures say that all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. To this end we seek to proclaim the gospel of a perfect Saviour for Sinners, so that men, women, boys, and girls might believe and have everlasting life.

Additionally, we seek to make the necessary exhortations that Christians conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Knowing that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, and not by good works (Ephesians 2:8-10), we nevertheless understand that God has saved us in order that we might do those things that are pleasing in His sight (Titus 2:14).

  • The Five ‘Solas’

We are Reformed Baptists and heartily embrace the “Five Solas” of the Protestant Reformation…

  • The Five Points

As Reformed Baptists, we embrace the sovereignty of God in the salvation of sinners – a view also known as Calvinistic soteriology….

  • Covenant Theology

The Bible is a unified whole wherein God promises to save His people by Jesus Christ in the Garden of Eden.  God’s covenant of grace is the outworking of His plan to save His elect by the work of Christ…

  • The Regulative Principle

Terry Johnson provides a helpful definition, “To put it simply, in worship we pray the Bible, sing the Bible, read the Bible, and preach the Bible and see the Bible (in the sacraments)…

  • Baptist Polity

We recognize two abiding offices in the church of Christ, elders and deacons, and require biblically qualified men to serve in these offices.  With reference to church ordinances, we believe there are two:  baptism and the Lord’s Supper…

  • Our Doctrinal Statement

As Reformed Baptists, we subscribe to the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 as our doctrinal statement
