Who is Jesus Christ?
Who does the Bible say that He is?
It is often assumed that everyone in North America knows who the Lord Jesus Christ is. People may think that He is the founder of Christianity, a good religious teacher, or perhaps an example to be followed. A Christian may well respond that He is a Saviour and friend of sinners. Christ is all of these things to be sure, but He is so much more!
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is a Prophet, Priest, and King.
As a Prophet, Christ walked upon earth preaching the gospel of the kingdom and had His Father’s approval, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” Today, the Prophet Christ communicates by His word (the Bible) and by His Spirit.
As a Priest, Christ offered the perfect sacrifice: Himself! He purchased His people with His own “precious blood…as of a lamb without blemish and spot.” As a Priest, Jesus ever lives to make intercession for His people and is an Advocate with the Father on their behalf.
As a King, Christ currently reigns at the right hand of His Father in heaven (Ps 110:1; Eph 1:20-23) where He rules, protects and defends His people and orders the affairs of the universe.
