At the heart of the Christian gospel are the truths of Christ crucified and Christ resurrected. Jesus came into the world to save sinners – to reconcile God and man through His atoning sacrifice.
Christ was the sinner’s substitute on Calvary to suffer the wrath and punishment of God in the place of all those whom the Father had given him. In Romans 4:25, Paul wrote, “[Jesus Christ] was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” This is a wonderful statement concerning the gospel.
Another truth we learn from the resurrection of Christ is the certainty of coming judgment. Paul never tried to prove the resurrection to satisfy the curiosities of carnal men; rather, he used the fact of the resurrection to prove that God would judge the world in righteousness by the Man, Jesus Christ, whom He has ordained for this purpose (Acts 17).
Paul says that God has given assurance of the coming judgment by raising Christ from the dead. We must look to Christ in faith as the One who died and rose again for sinners if we would escape the wrath of God on the Day of Judgment.
Are you ready for that day?
