The Bible reveals that man’s greatest problem is a problem of the heart. Unfortunately, there are people who believe that if they just fix their environment, social status, or economic standing, then all their problems will be solved.
Jesus Christ taught that what comes out of a man is that which defiles a man (Mark 7:20). In the words of God’s prophet Jeremiah, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”
Only the Christian gospel appeals to man’s greatest need: God the Sovereign Lord graciously accepts sinners to Himself on the basis of the work of Jesus Christ alone. All of man’s attempts at reconciliation with God apart from the Christian gospel must ultimately fail because they cannot effectively deal with the heart.
Man’s heart is desperately wicked; God is the One who alone can cleanse the heart of man, not false religions or social engineers who neglect the Christian gospel.
